This exceptional late Victorian coffer hails from Scotland 1890, crafted from solid quartersawn oak with a rich honey patina that only 130 years can create.
The front features three deeply carved panels showcasing classic Scottish and English motifs: A Tudor rose, scrolling acanthus and a bold Scottish thistle with its distinctive leaf. The carving is crisp and hand-done. Original keyhole intact to the hinge lift-top.
Below is a generous open shelf with carved bracket details adds display space and lightness to the piece-perfect for books, baskets or folded quilts. Sturdy on straight square legs.
Note: Top has a crack and blemishes
